Uplyme cricketers on course for promotion

UPLYME and Lyme Regis produced a good performance in defeating Countess Wear in the Devon Cricket League Division E East on Saturday.

After winning the toss and fielding, Uplyme bowled out Countess Wear for 141 with the wickets falling at regular intervals. Tyler Wellman (3 for 31) and Charlie Moss (3 for 39) were the pick of the Uplyme attack. Steve Batey also bowled well with little luck, returning figures of 1 for 16 off nine overs.

Uplyme chased down the total in a very secure fashion dispatching any loose ball to the boundary, the highlight of which was a knock of 39 from man-of-the-match Carlie Moss who smashed five fours and two sixes. He was well supported by Steve Batey (22) and Harvey Brimicombe (20), getting to the winning total with the loss of six wickets and securing a maximum 20 points.

It turned out to be a good weekend for Uplyme with nearest rivals Topsham St James losing to Ottery, enabling Uplyme to cement their third place promotion position and increasing the gap to 20 points.
