Uplyme bottom of league after another defeat

UPLYME & Lyme Regis are firmly entrenched at the bottom of the Devon Cricket League D Division East after their fourth defeat of the season.

Uplyme were at home to high-riding Upottery CC yesterday (Saturday). They won the toss and elected to bat, but amassed an inadequate score of 131-8 off their allotted 40 overs.

Top scorer for the home team number three Mark Batey (26), playing his first game of the season, an innings which included two four and two sixes.

Opening Jedd Whittington hit a quick-fire 21 run off just eight balls, also including two fours and two sixes, and Bruce Maltby contributed a useful 24.

Upottery knocked off the required runs  for the loss of six wickets to earn 20 points.

Most successful bowler for Uplyme was Sam Wooster, returning 3-29 off six overs.

Uplyme are boots of the table with 42 points from five games.

Uplyme & Lyme Regis 2nd X1 were without a fixture.
