EARLY league leaders Uplyme and Lyme Regis’ poor batting of late has seen them drop to fifth place in the C Division East table having lost by nine wickets to sixth placed Ottery St Mary, their seventh defeat in 12 games.
Otter won the toss and put the visitors into bat. But Uplyme’s innings never really got off the ground with opener Martin Langford top scoring on 38 and they were all out for 120 in 41 overs with the last five batsmen contributing only 27 runs.
Matthew Jeacock was the Ottery bowler to do the most damage, finishing with figures of 4 for 22 off nine overs.
Ottery knocked off the required runs in 19 overs, losing just one wicket along the way. Opener George Mutter (52) and number three Jonathan Triner (38) saw they home safely.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Uplyme will be hoping to get back to winning ways with a home game against bottom club Upottery.
