Sailing club hosts world champions for national event

SOME of the top sailors from across the world have been competing in Lyme Regis this week for the Merlin Rocket Championships 2018.

Lyme Regis Sailing Club hosted the championship, a major event which welcomes Olympic sailors including medal winners and world and national champions from many classes.

The event was launched on Saturday night with a reception at the clubhouse on Marine Parade, hosted by club commodore Jerry Rook and attended by the Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Michaela Ellis, and her consort Alan Ellis. Racing got underway on Sunday and social events have continued throughout the week.

The championship will be closed with a prize giving ceremony in the clubhouse this afternoon (Friday).
