Reserves hit 20 goals in two games

LYME Regis Reserves moved level on points with Devon & Exeter League Division Five leaders, Black Swan Town,  with a 9-0 victory at home to Dunkeswell Rover tonight (Thursday).

It was the second game on the trot that the Ressies had chalked up a double figure victory, having beaten Offwell Rovers 11-0 on Monday evening.

Among the Lyme scorers tonight was Spanish signing Ruben Rogel Abos, his fifth for the club in four games. Other goals are from Jake Bearpark (2),  Bradley Rowe (2),  Alex Rowe and Steve Batey (2, including a penalty).

Black Swan and Lyme Reserves both have 43 points at the top of the table, but Lyme have played one more game. TheTeignmouth side stay in top spot on goal difference, 61 against Lyme’s 47.

Lyme Rovers were also in action tonight in a Perry Street Division Three game against a strong Chard Rangers Reserves, losing 6-1. Club secretary Rob Thom, in a rare appearance, got the Lyme goal.

Lyme 1sts were due to meet Bickleigh at the Davey Fort tomorrow (Saturday) in a double header. Unfortunately, Bickleigh have withdrawn from the league because they cannot fulfil their remaining fixtures. But this means they should be fresher for their act East Devon Senior Cup game on Sunday at Alphington.

The club is now hoping to move the Reserves’ home game against Awliscombe to a 3 pm kick-off.
