LYME Regis Reserves sit on top of the Devon and Exeter League Division Five this evening after another goal spree.

The Seasiders replace Black Swan Town as league leaders after three points gained at home in an 8-2 victory over Awliscombe,  bringing their tally of goals scored during the past week to 31.

Last Saturday they beat Black Swan Town 3-2, followed by a 11-0 victory over Offwell Rangers on Monday and a 9-0 win over Dunkeswell Rovers on Thursday.

Today’s comfortable cruise against Awliscombe saw the Ressies move to top spot with 46 points,  three points ahead of the Teignmouth side who have two games in hand. Elmore 2nds are in third place, trailing Lyme by six points but with three games in hand, so to be guaranteed of promotion Lyme need to win their remaining games.

It was another impressive football display from the Seasiders’ second string with their two Spanish signings, Ruben Rogel Abos and Jaime Rodriguez  demonstrating their passing skills and both getting on the scoresheet. Two goals from Stephen Batey and one apiece from Jake Bearpark, Cam Fowler, Fred Thompson and Alistair Rattenbury completing the scoreline.

Awliscombe did not give up and contributed to an entertaining game with two well worked goals.

The Reserves have four more games left to play and travel to Hemyock on Thursday and meet Culm United at home on Saturday.

Lyme 1sts were without a game as they were due to play Bickleigh, who have withdrawn from the league. But their promotion hopes from Division One were given a boost with the news that one of their close rivals Perry Street lost 3-2 at home to Sidmouth 2nds. Lyme, in third place, lead Perry Street by three points but they have two games in hand.

Tomorrow (Sunday) Lyme travel to Alphington in the East Devon Senior Cup and on Wednesday they meet Division Five leaders University 2nds at the Davey Fort.
