Local football washed out again

JUST two games in the Devon & Exeter  League were played on Saturday and all the cup fixtures washed out again

Only two league matches defied the heavy overnight and early morning weather with Ottery St Mary getting the better of Division Three visitors Newton St Cyres 6-1, and Culm United scoring twice late on to win 4-2 against luckless Kenn Valley United.

The Otters success took them to second place, but in Division 7 Kenn are still without a point as they lost their 12th league match.

Altogether some 50-plus league and cup matches were postponed by the monsoon weather including all four county cup ties due to be played. These will be probably re-scheduled for next Saturday as County ties take preference.

DIVISION 3: Ottery St Mary 6 Newton St Cyres 1

DIVISION 7: Kenn Valley United 2 Culm United 4

Lyme Regis Reserves’ Dorset Intermediate Cup home tie against Sturminster Marshall was also called off for a second week.

This coming Saturday (December 22) Lyme Regis 1st travel to Furzbrake to meet near-neighbours Beer Albion and will be looking to do the double over The Fishermen.

Lyme Reserves are scheduled to meet Devon & Exeter Division Four opponents Hemyock, lying in seventh place, at the Davey Fort.

Lyme Rovers have completed their fixtures for 2018 and their next game is at home to Farway Reserves on January 12th 2019.
