COUNTESS WEAR were too strong a batting side for Uplyme & Lyme Regis, losing by four wickets in the Devon Cricket League Division E East at the King George V playing field on Saturday.
Uplyme won the toss and put the visitors into bat, the Exeter side amassing 243 for the loss of six wickets, including two run-outs by Jed Whittington and Robert Thom.
The bowling spoils were shared by new players Jibu Varghes, Jaiveer Singh and Max Helson, all claiming one wicket, as did Mark Brimicombe.
In reply, Uplyme were bowled out for 163 in 41.3 overs with Mark Brimicombe (45) and Mark Batey (30) top scoring and Bruce Maltby chipping in with 26.
Uplyme picked up seven points which keeps them in fourth place in the table.
Next Saturday they are at home again, this time entertaining Ottery St Mary 2nds who have won just one of their opening four games (start 1.30 pm).
