COVID outbreaks delay start of new season for the Seasiders

LYME Regis 1st team were due to start their new season in the Devon and Exeter League Premier division today (Saturday) but their trip to Dawlish United has been postponed due to the the South Devon club having three players who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Lyme Reserves’ home game against Heavitree United has also been called off because a Lyme committee member has also tested positive.

The first team’s second game of the season next Wednesday against Colyton, another club hit by COVID-19, had already been postponed.

Lyme are due to travel to Lapford, the side who beat them in last season’s Premier play-off, on Saturday, August 28, but the club is waiting for confirmation that this fixture can go ahead.
