Alner hat-trick in Uplyme Reserves 6-1 victory over Chard Rangers

Perry Street Spring Series 2020 – 2021

Uplyme Reserves 6 ,

Chard Rangers 1st 1

Uplyme Reserves were in brilliant form at home to Chard Rangers 1sts on Saturday.

An excited team was led out by the very able temporary manager Olly Alner.

Chard were one goal up within the first few minutes, but Uplyme soon got into their stride,  communicating and passing well.

Captain Alex Pennington encouraged his team to work hard and they were soon rewarded with a goal from Olly Alner, the first of a well taken hat-trick.

Kieran Day was denied what would have been a brilliant strike which deflected off the bar, but he went on to score a well-deserved goal.

Brad Bowditch scored a beauty, as did Ethan Matthews, who powered home a winner.

All the goals came after brilliant impressive defending which saw the Swallows’ second street in control throughout.

Rhys Hulbert did a sterling job in goal,  denying Chard on several occasions.  All the six goals were taken well, with Alner’s hat-trick being particularly impressive especially as he was one of Uplyme’s roll-on-roll-off subs whilst nursing an injury.
