Friends set up home help company

Laura Fewkes and Laura Sleep - former bank colleagues and now business partners

TWO friends who have known each other for many years and who both worked in banking have set up a home help company operating within a 15-mile radius of Axminster.

With more than 50 years of service with the National Westminster Bank behind them, Laura Fewkes and Laura Sleep have put their people skills to good use by setting up Orchid Home Help.

Working behind the counter at the bank for so long, both Lauras were used to helping customers, particularly the elderly ones, with form filling, etc, and decided to take redundancy after local branches were closed.

Orchid Home Help will assist their clients with all their domestic needs, from cleaning, shopping, ironing and cooking to companionship, helping with paperwork and accompanied trips. They believe their service will help the elderly to retain their independence and stay in their homes longer.

However, their service is not just aimed at the elderly, but at all those who lead busy lives and may not have time to sort out their domestic duties.

Orchid Home Help will charge an hourly fee for their services and can be contacted on 07498 259 123.
