LITTER Free Coast and Sea have launched an online survey to gather data about Dorset beaches and prioritise action to make them better.
They will be using the results to help develop profiles for popular beaches, focussing on recreational activities, local facilities, water quality, and litter.
Stuart Beckingham, project officer at Litter Free Coast and Sea, commented: “We are fortunate to live so close to many outstanding beaches in Dorset that provide space to socialise, exercise, or simply unwind and gaze out to sea.
“Litter Free Coast and Sea are working to improve the local environment by working in collaboration with local partners; we plan to use results of this survey to develop informed campaigns and action plans together with individuals, community groups, businesses, land-owners, and local authorities.”
The survey is can be completed on the Dorset Coast ‘Have Your Say’ website at www.dorsetcoasthaveyoursay.co.uk
Anyone completing the survey can enter their details for a chance to win Dorset goodies, including a bottle of award-winning, local sparkling wine, and a print of their favourite beach from one of Dorset’s talented landscape photographers.
Litter Free Dorset and Litter Free Coast and Sea are community campaigns to reduce litter across Dorset and improve bathing water quality. They are both made up of a group of local organisations, charities and community groups.
The organisations work together to reduce the social, economic and environmental impacts of litter. This is done by trying to stop littering behaviour in the first place and through clean ups.
