WATCH: Red Devils land on Lyme Regis beach for Lifeboat Week

THE British Army’s Red Devils Freefall Parachute Team landed on Lyme Regis beach in front of huge crowds this afternoon (Thursday).

The event was one of the highlights of the Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week programme.

Parachutists jumped with flags and red smoke trailing behind them, putting on a spectacular show for the audience lined along Marine Parade and in the seafront gardens.

After landing on the beach, they were greeted by the Mayor of Lyme Regis, Cllr Michaela Ellis, accompanied by her husband consort Alan Ellis and Petrina Muscroft of the lifeboat crew.

Lifeboat Week events will continue tomorrow (Friday) with Lyme Regis’ first Pirate Day.

The programme will include a pirate pancake breakfast at the lifeboat station, treasure hunt, sandcastle competition, duck race, pirate fancy dress competitions, a tug o’ war across the harbour mouth and a pirate after-party at Lyme Regis Brewery.

Full details of all the week’s events can be found in Lifeboat Week programmes, available for £2 at local outlets, or download the Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week app.
