THE Powder Monkey Explorer Sea Scouts, based in Uplyme, raised more than £300 for their unit from through a Christmas tree collection last weekend, collecting 45 trees from the local area.
Trees that were collected by the 15 Explorers were mostly chipped, though some were kept for firewood to be used at a later date.
Finn, one of the Explorer Scouts helping, commented: “It was really good fun going and collecting the trees with the other Explorers, everyone we met was really supportive and generous.
“We can’t wait to be out and about this year more in the community.”
Sarah Dean, Explorer Scout Leader, commented: “We had a phenomenally successful day helping dispose of people’s Christmas trees.
“As ever, we are very grateful for the community’s support as it makes all the difference – people gave more than the minimum asked for.
“I would like to thank all the Explorers and adults who helped, and in particular Fowler Hire and Sales in Bridport for their loan of the chipper.”
The Explorers hope to repeat the fundraiser in 2023 following its success this year.
