THE 1st Lym Valley Scout group spent Saturday afternoon cleaning up the rubbish on Lyme Regis’ beaches following an inspiring talk from members of campaign group Plastic Free Lyme Regis.
In the recent talk, the Beavers and Scouts were told about the issues facing the environment around the world and what we can do to help make a difference.
Scout leader Karen Yelland said: “I had emails from parents telling us how fired they’re kids were after the session from Plastic Free Lyme Regis. It really opened their eyes to the issue, so we decided to have a beach clean to help make a difference in our local area.
“I think they really enjoyed making an impact and contributing towards looking after our town.”
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts picked up litter along Monmouth Beach, Victoria Pool and on the main sandy beach, collecting a total of 11 large bags full of rubbish.
