EXHIBITORS for the 90th Uplyme & Lyme Regis Horticultural Society Summer Show at Uplyme Village Hall are invited to submit their entry form by 8pm on Wednesday, July 10 ahead of the big event this weekend.

Entry forms are available from the website www.ulrhs.wordpress.com, or in the Sumer Show Schedule, available free from Uplyme Post Office, Raymonds Hill Post Office and Ginger Beer in Broad Street, Lyme Regis.

Entrants can choose from 148 categories to enter, including flowers, fruit and vegetables, floral art, preserves, cookery, wine, craft, photography, junior and fun classes.

Twelve classes are solely for those aged 16 and under and there are ten classes including the potato – the theme of this year’s show.

Society chairman Robin Britton said: “Whatever your interests there are competition classes that you can enter so do not be afraid to have a go – entries are free.”

The show will be held at the King George V playing field in Uplyme on Saturday, July 13. Outside the horticultural tent there will be plenty of attractions.

Owls ‘R’ Us are new to this year’s Summer Show with a static display of six different types of owl plus a hawk and a falcon. Visitors will be able to touch the birds and take their photographs with them.

There will also be llamas, alpacas, farrier shoeing horses, wildlife and butterfly conservation.

A circus skills workshop will be available for all ages, while woodturners, spinners and quilters will also be running demonstrations.

Mrs Ethelston’s School Choir will open the show and Lyme Regis Town Band and HiDDeN will provide music throughout the afternoon.

Free train rides, a family dog show, bouncy castle and stalls from local groups, charities and businesses will all add to the occasion.

And of course there will be excellent refreshments, including cream teas, a bar and ice creams.

The show will be open from 1pm to 5pm. Entry is £2.50 for adults and free for accompanied under 16s.
