CHILDREN from St Michael’s Primary School in Lyme Regis enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch before breaking up for the holidays.

Former kitchen assistant Kirsty Godfrey has now been appointed school cook with St Michael’s taking all of its catering in house.

Menus are planned weeks ahead and the school buys in all its own ingredients with Kirsty cooking everything from scratch.

The new scheme has proved hugely popular, with more than 70 children now signed up for hot school meals rather than packed lunches.

Last Tuesday, the children enjoyed traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings followed by cake, and enjoyed pulling crackers together at the tables.
