Plastic Free Lyme Regis launches video channel

CAMPAIGN group Plastic Free Lyme Regis has launched a new video channel on its website.

The channel features short interviews with local companies on the challenges and successes of reducing plastic in their businesses.

It aims to provide an easily-accessible resource for local businesses by sharing ideas and tips to help them make their own choices on reducing plastic use.

The interviews will cover a cross section of businesses and organisations, their hardest challenges, what they’ve achieved, the business benefits and their hopes for the future.

The first interviewees are now online with Izzy Sibley of Lyme Regis Baptist Church (watch below), Sean Smith from The Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant, Sarah Abel of Persuasion and Nicky Taylor of Penny Black Cafe.

Grenville Barr, chairman of Plastic Free Lyme Regis, said: “Many local businesses have got behind our campaign to improve not only Lyme Regis but also their own impact on the environment.

“We started this project to provide another resource for local business, however what has been really interesting is the impact these companies are already making on their suppliers and customers, as well as the products and services they provide.”

Each of the businesses taking part are recipients of Plastic Free Lyme Regis’ Supporters Scheme and many have also achieved the Surfers Against Sewage’s Community Award given to companies that have removed at least three items of single use plastic from their business offering.

Mr Barr added: “Every contribution an individual or business makes, however small, is a step in protecting and preserving our environment. The reduction or removal of single use plastic helps achieve this.”

Anyone interested in helping Lyme Regis become ‘plastic free’ should contact info@plasticfreelyme.uk  to receive updates and invitations, or visit the Plastic Free Lyme Regis website www.plasticfreelyme.uk, where you can find the new video channel, or join the group on on Facebook.
