LONG-STANDING landlords of The Royal Standard in Lyme Regis, Steve and Jane Souter-Philips, handed over the business to their daughter Rachael and son-in-law Akis Maravelis on Saturday.

The young couple are experienced in working at the Palmers Brewery-owned pub and restaurant on Marine Parade, with Rachael often seen behind the bar and Greek chef Akis in the kitchen, but they have now officially taken over as licensees.

A handing over party was held at the pub on Saturday night, with friends, family and regulars celebrating the retirement of popular couple Steve and Jane with a disco playing hits from their favourite eras.

Steve and Jane will continue to manage the ice cream parlour outside the Royal Standard.
