WEST Dorset’s newly-elected MP Chris Loder will have the opportunity to present a Private Members’ Bill on a subject of his choice to the House of Commons.

Conservative Mr Loder was the fifth MP selected in a Private Members’ Bill Ballot this month, meaning he can now present a bill to his colleagues with a chance of it becoming law.

He commented: “I’m very pleased that as your new MP for West Dorset I have this opportunity to make new legislation that benefits our community.”

Mr Loder invited constituents to make suggestions on the bill via his website www.chrisloder.co.uk

Private Members’ Bills are Public Bills introduced by MPs and Lords who are not government ministers. As with other Public Bills, their purpose is to change the law as it applies to the general population.
