LIFEBOAT volunteer Rich Tilley is expected to be doubly busy after qualifying as a sea-going member and passing out as a retained firefighter in the same week.
Rich fully qualified as a sea-going member of the volunteer lifeboat crew on Tuesday, before passing out as a retained firefighter with Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service just three days later.
He will now serve on Lyme Regis fire crew as well as carrying out his lifeboat duties and being a full-time graphic designer, based at offices in the Town Mill.
Rich is thought to be the first person to serve with both emergency services in Lyme Regis.
He commented: “It was quite a week and I am over the moon at joining the fire and rescue service and dearly want to continue as a volunteer with the lifeboat.”
Lifeboat operations manager Nick Marks added: “We are very happy to keep Rich as a sea-going member of our crew and now wait to see how the varying shift patterns will work.”
