HAVING already announced a record-breaking total last month, organisers of Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week have now reported that funds raised have increased to £40,315.

It was announced in September that this year’s Lifeboat Week raised an all-time record of £36,500 for the RNLI, but Brian Curlsey, treasurer of the Lyme Regis and Charmouth Lifeboat Supporters, has now reported that the figure surpassed initial estimates by almost £4,000.

He commented: “There is little doubt that this is the best result ever after all expenses.”

Chairman of the supporters group, Ken Lavery, added: “This is just an amazing  total and a tribute to all the RNLI volunteers involved in planning and running the events and, of course, we send our thanks to the many hundreds of generous people who gave donations during the week.”

Next year’s Lifeboat Week will be held from July 25 to 31.
