THE Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Michaela Ellis, celebrated her year in office with about 130 guests at the annual Civic Night on Saturday.

It was one of the biggest attendances at Civic Night in recent years, with guests including friends and family of Councillor Ellis, as well as fellow councillors and representatives from many local organisations.

Guests arriving at the Woodmead Halls were announced by town crier Alan Vian before being greeted by the mayor and the rest of the civic party, including the mayor’s consort Alan Ellis, deputy mayor Councillor Steve Miller and his wife Heather, town clerk John Wright and mace bearers Derek Hallett and Jon Hunt.

A buffet supper was provided by Italian caterer Antonio Strillozzi, followed by entertainment by Lyme Regis band DeltaTango7.

There was also a raffle, raising funds for the mayor’s chosen charity, St Michael’s Parish Church’s Tower Fund.

In a short speech, Councillor Ellis thanked all those for attending and for helping her organise the event, and said she would continue raising money for the Tower Fund in her second year in office, having recently been elected to continue as mayor from May onwards.
