Lyme Splash swim and water polo championship cancelled

DUE to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Lyme Splash has taken the decision to cancel both its Sea Water Polo Championship on August 22 and 23, and the Lyme Regis to Charmouth Challenge Swim on September 13.

“It’s not been difficult to make this decision as the safety of our volunteers both in the water and on land and our entrants has to come first,” said Karen Durham-Diggins, chairman of Lyme Splash.

“It is far better to be extra safe right now much as it saddens us and is disappointing for those  hoping to take part.

“Next year we will know more about this awful disease and how we can manage and be better prepared safely for events in the future.

“Our headline sponsors of both events Lyme Bay Holidays have been very understanding and generously allowed us to move our sponsorship funds forward to next year, for which we are grateful.”

Anyone who has signed up will be offered a secure place for next year’s events or if they prefer can donate their entry fee to the charities supported by the Lyme Splash events – B Sharp and Plastic Free Lyme Regis.
