Lyme artist says thank you to NHS with paramedic portrait

jess douglas nhs portraitLYME Regis artist Jess Douglas has joined many across the country paying tribute to NHS staff by painting their portraits.

Jess wanted to take part in the #portraitsfornhsheroes initiative as a way of saying thank you to those on the frontline in the fight against coronavirus.

She put out a call for NHS staff who would like their portrait painted and was contacted by Ian Thomas, a paramedic from Weymouth.

Jess has now released her finished portrait of Ian, showing him wearing PPE in front of an ambulance.

She is the second Lyme Regis artist to release an NHS portrait, with painter David Manners having recently completed a portrait of a nurse.

The portrait was a change to Jess’ usual subject matter, as she is best known for painting fishing boats and super yachts from all over the world.
