Harvest festival collections give foodbank a boost

Volunteers from Lyme Regis Foodbank

LYME Regis Foodbank has benefited from harvest festivals held at local schools and churches.

St Michael’s Primary in Lyme Regis, Mrs Ethelston’s in Uplyme and Charmouth Primary organised collections of non-perishable food items for the foodbank, while St Michael’s Parish Church, Uplyme Parish Church, Lyme Regis Baptist Church and Holy Cross Church in Woodbury also collected donations.

Heather Prior from LymeForward, which runs the foodbank, said: “The response from the community has been fantastic, thank you! “The food collected will make an important contribution towards supporting those in the community that are in need of emergency food.”

The foodbank collects donations of non-perishable goods at points around the town. It is also happy to receive donations of money, which enables items that are in short supply to be purchased.

More volunteers would also be welcome. If you would like to donate or volunteer, contact Heather Prior on 01297 441224 or email heather@lymeforward.co.uk
