AT least 40 Lyme Regis businesses are currently taking part in the Fiver Fest campaign, helping to promote the ‘shop local’ message.
To promote the importance of supporting local traders, Lyme Regis is joining more than 100 independent high streets across the UK to take part in the Totally Locally Fiver Fest, which got underway on Saturday.
As happened during Lyme’s first Fiver Fest in February, businesses are being asked to offer customers a special £5 deal, to encourage more shoppers to support independent traders and provide a welcome boost following the coronavirus lockdown.
The campaign is being organised locally by town councillor Belinda Bawden, who commented: “Fiver Fest is now a big part of our promotions for Lyme Regis. The independent shops and businesses are what makes our town special and unique.
“We appreciate it when our community support local traders, so these offers are to say thank you for that support, and to show just what great value our local businesses are.”
Fiver Fest is a free to join campaign, devised and run by Totally Locally, a grass-roots high street organisation that has been helping businesses to help themselves since 2010 with incredible results.
During this Fiver Fest, Totally Locally is partnering with Visa to encourage even more small business owners to sign up to this celebration of independent high streets. Together, they are also calling on consumers to divert £5 of their weekly spend to support the small businesses in their communities.
Fiver Fest is based around the now famous Totally Locally £5 message: “If every adult in Lyme Regis spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops and businesses, it would mean £700,000 per year going directly into our local economy. Which can lead to more jobs, a better high street, a stronger economy & a nicer place to live. Makes you think doesn’t it?”
The campaign will run until October 24.
Lyme Regis businesses taking part include the following: Alice’s Bear Shop, Amid Giants & Idols, Ammonite Fine Foods, Beach House Cafe, Boylos, Blue Lias Gallery, Causley Cabs, Courtyard Cafe, Fuego, Ginger Beer, House of Flowers, Jane’s Cafe, Julie Oldfield Art, Kiosk, Lyme Regis Butchers, Lyme Convenience Store, Lyme Gifts, Lyme Regis Brewery, Lyme Rocks, The Millside Restaurant, The Monmouth Pantry, The Old Bonded Store Tea Room, The Old Bonded Store, Pebbles Boutique, Persuasion, The Pilot Boat, Primary Colours, Pug & Puffin, Puddleduck, Robin Wylde, Roly’s Fudge Pantry, Ryder & Hope, The Slipway, The Talbot Arms, A Touch of Vintage, The Town Mill, The Town Mill Bakery, Uplyme Stores, The Word Forest Organisation.
