ORGANISERS of the annual Food Rocks festival in Lyme Regis have announced that this year’s event raised a record £11,191 for charity.
The food festival, staged by top chef and restaurateur Mark Hix MBE and his team, topped off a busy summer for Lyme Regis, attracting huge crowds when it was held for the seventh year in September.
The event included stalls selling the best local produce along Marine Parade and in Lister Gardens, top names from the culinary world giving demonstrations in the festival marquee, and two sell-out feast nights.
The funds raised will be split equally between Mark’s two chosen charities – the RNLI and the Fishermen’s Mission.
A spokesman for Food Rocks said: “Thank you to everyone that took part, everyone that came along over the weekend, to everyone that donated at the demos, enjoyed the supper clubs, sponsored the event and even supported the event here on social media.
“Every bit of support along the way helped to raise this wonderful amount for charity.
“A huge thanks also to the HIX Food Rocks team for working so hard on this event!”
