THIS year 2021 marks the 100th year of the formation of the Royal British Legion, a year in which still sees our British Forces serving overseas in the defence of our freedoms.
Whilst the high profile and media intensive reporting from Iraq and Afghanistan has diminished, we are still assisting a United Nations mission in Mali (Central Africa) alongside our French Allies to stem the flow of extremist Islamic activities in that area.
Consequently, the call for the assistance from service charities, and especially the Royal British Legion, will prevail for many years to come.
We would like to invite all members of the Lyme Regis community to come together and make this 100th birthday a real celebration by becoming a member of the Legion.
The membership fee is modest by today’s standards (£19) and by joining you are helping to provide the vital community support we can give to our serving and veteran service personnel.
This gesture would be a fantastic birthday present to us so please help us to helm our service community past and present.
All you need to do is Google RBL Membership or pick up the phone and a cheerful customer support member will enrol you in a matter of minutes: the number to ring is 0800 3077 773 and the direct link to join us online is https://bit.ly/3k46tcl
It is remarkable that even during the past 18 months of the pandemic our branch community support team here in Lyme Regis has maintained a constant contact with our care homes as well as those whom we regularly keep in touch with who are living in the community.
Without these funds we would not be able to continue to provide this often “under the radar” support which is not high profile but nonetheless the pinnacle of the work the Legion undertakes.
It is quite amazing that we do not know how many serving or veterans we have living in the Lyme Regis, Charmouth and surrounding villages. Please contact us (details below) to let us know you are there and also be assured that we are there for you.
Lyme Regis Branch is here to assist any ex-servicemen living in the area whether members or not.
If you would like to discuss joining the Legion please contact the Chairman, Ian Marshall by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or on call 07584 993 955 to learn more of the Legion’s support programmes.
