PLANS have been submitted to split the former Victoria Hotel in Lyme Regis into seven separate holiday lets, and build additional visitor accommodation within the grounds.
The former hotel in Uplyme Road is currently let as a single 11-bed holiday home for large parties but is said to be outdated and in need of repair.
The new owner is proposing that two separate holiday lets be created on each of the lower ground, ground and first floors, with a single let on the top floor and a new two-bedroom, single-storey holiday let built in the side garden – eight units in total.
The existing building will not change much in appearance from the front street scene, other than restoring the existing basement windows along the footpath.
Some existing doors will be replaced, blocked up and terraces added. Three existing chimney breasts will be removed; these are non-working and have already been partly removed within the lower floors of the building mainly.
The new proposed detached let will only be visible from the car park and will not impact on any of the surrounding existing dwellings.
Each holiday let will have their own parking spaces within the existing rear car park.
Most of the proposed holiday lets will have their own personal garden or decking area to relax and others will have full access to the existing communal courtyard garden area which will be altered to suit.
It is also proposed to erect an external bin and secure cycle store within the car park area.
