New mayor holds on to committee chairmanship

THE new Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Brian Larcombe MBE, has retained his chairmanship of the Human Resources Committee.

Councillor Larcombe, who was a senior HR manager at the Ministry of Defence’s Hydrographic Office in Taunton, was re-elected chairman of the committee at its first meeting following the local elections. Newly-elected councillor Gillian Stammers will serve as vice-chairman.

The committee oversees member/staff issues and recruitment.

Councillor Graham Turner has been elected chairman of the town council’s Planning Committee, which is responsible for making recommendations to Dorset Council on local planning applications.

Councillor Larcombe was his predecessor and will now serve as vice-chairman.

The chairmen and vice-chairmen of the Town Management & Highways Committee; Tourism, Community & Publicity Committee and the influential Strategy & Finance Committee will all be elected at their respective first meetings over the next three weeks.
