New costumes for shanty-singing group

Members of the Lyme Bay Moonrakers wearing their new shawls as a socially-distanced rehearsal

LOCAL singer Kay Luckraft has helped out the newly-formed singing group Lyme Bay Moonrakers during lockdown – but it’s not her vocal skills she’s been sharing, it’s her crochet skills!

Kay, a member of Lyme Bay Chorale and Lyme Lights Singers, has crocheted shawls for members of the Moonrakers to wear as part of their costumes when they are able to perform once again.

She said it was a pleasure to do something productive for another local singing group and she is looking forward to seeing the Moonrakers in action in the future.

The Lyme Bay Moonrakers are a local group of women and men singing shanties and songs of the sea, both traditional and new ones written by members of the group, which formed shortly before the coronavirus lockdown.
