Volunteers braved the cold weather to clean up Lyme's beaches

MORE than 50 volunteers braved the cold on Sunday afternoon to clean up Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis.

The event was organised by Litter Free Coast & Sea, with volunteers being provided with equipment to scour Monmouth Beach for plastic and other waste.

The next clean in Lyme Regis will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, organised by the Sea Shepherd Marine Debris Campaign, with volunteers being asked to meet at the lifeboat station on the Cobb at 10am.

Equipment will be provided and volunteers should wear sensible clothing, sturdy footwear and gloves.

A clean specifically aimed at clearing nurdles from Charmouth beach has also been organised for Saturday, February 17th from 12noon to 1.30pm. Nurdles are tiny plastic pellets used in most plastic products.
