Man arrested for arson after two fires in Lyme

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson after two fires were started in Lyme Regis in the early hours of this morning (Monday). 

The fire service and police were called to reports of a fire at a property in Bridge Street at 2.59am this morning.

A further report was then received of a fire in an enclosed passageway on Coombe Street, next to Lyme’s Fish Bar.

Police officers attended the scene and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, and criminal damage. He is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

No one was injured in the incidents. It is understood that one fire appliance attended the scene and there was no significant damage.
