Lyme Regis lifeboat crew called out twice in afternoon

LYME Regis lifeboat crew were called out twice on Sunday.

The volunteer crew were first called out at 12.45pm to reports to a broken down speedboat in the bay.

The speedboat developed problems off  Burton Bradstock and was initially towed by a fishing boat.

The RNLI crew took over the tow into West Bay harbour and returned to the station at 1.44pm.

Three hours later, the crew were called out again to reports of two youngsters in difficulties while paddle boarding off Eype.

The crew were launched 4.45pm but, after finding no trace of the youngsters, coastguards heard that they had been helped to safety ashore by friends.
