Lyme business spreading the love this Valentine’s Day with free red roses

A LYME Regis restaurant will be spreading a little love this Valentine’s Day, delivering free red roses and cards to the local community.

The Millside at the Town Mill in Lyme Regis has set up a postbox outside the restaurant specifically for Valentine’s Day cards.

Restaurant owners Georgina and John will then deliver the cards along with a free single red rose, which they are buying themselves from Lyme Regis florist House of Flowers, as they wanted to support another local business.

Cards and roses will be delivered within a three-mile radius of Lyme on February 14 to spread a little love and positive cheer during lockdown.

The service is being offered completely free of charge and cards and roses will be hand-delivered, so there’s no need for stamp.

The postbox will be open for card deliveries from 12noon tomorrow (Monday) and it will be emptied every day with cards kept in a secure box until Valentine’s Day.

Last deliveries should be made by February 11 to allow at least 72 hours for cards to be quarantined. All necessary COVID precautions will be taken when hand-delivering the cards, including using gloves and sanitiser.

Cards and letters must have an address on the envelope but do not require a stamp. One free, wrapped red rose will be delivered with each card, but if you wish to send your loved one something extra for Valentine’s Day, you can order from House of Flowers on 01297 444743.

Georgina said: “It’s not just for husbands and wives or girlfriends and boyfriends, but your best friend, someone you just want to say ‘love you’ to.

“Let’s give back to this amazing community, make a card, buy one, write a love letter, send a friend a memo, let’s turn 2021 around!”
