COMMUNITY radio station Lyme Bay Radio will be back on air from Friday, July 17.
Having been launched by Lyme Regis Development Trust at the beginning on March, the online radio station was up and running for less than a month before it was forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The development trust has taken time during lockdown to make a few improvements to the radio station, not the least of which is that they now have a second studio so presenters can pre-record their shows.
Programme controller and CEO of Lyme Regis Development Trust, Chris Tipping, said: “There is now a vibrant new schedule that will have something for everyone and the team will continue to build on this in the forthcoming weeks before we are able to re-start all live programming from the studio again later in the year.
“Our amazing presenters have been working on a project called ‘Rockdown in the Lockdown’, and have been busily recording radio shows from home, so although sound is always studio quality, we are sure you will appreciate the passion that shines through.”
Lyme Bay Radio is offering all local business a chance to dedicate a song and mention their business for free as they get back on their feet after lockdown.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the song, why you want to hear it and what it means to you, along with the name of your business and presenters will let you know when it is going to play out.
To give you a start think about the following:
- What is the one song that got you through it all?
- What song would you share with the Lyme Bay community?
- Is there someone you would like to dedicate a song to, for a birthday, anniversary or to the love of your life?
- What’s the one song guaranteed to make you dance ?
- What’s first chillout song you play when you go to the beach?
Mr Tipping added: “We would still love to hear from any prospective presenters, back office and technical people. The radio station presents a great opportunity to volunteer on an amazing community-based project that touches so many lives.
“We are not your typical community radio station and we welcome all, regardless of race, religion or gender identity, so if you have an idea for a show (no matter how strange or bizarre) come and talk to us at our base in The Hub.”
