ESME Skevington, a pupil of the Lyme School of Ballet, will be heading to the French capital this summer after securing a place with the prestigious Paris Opera Summer School.
The young dancer, from Charmouth, will be studying ballet, folk dance, mime, music and history of dance from July 8 to 13 with the summer school, designed for dancers aged between 10 and 19.
Created in 2013 for the tercentenary of the Paris Opera School, this summer intensive is a unique opportunity for young dancers from all over the world to train at the world’s most ancient ballet school.
The summer school faculty includes teachers and pianists from the Paris Opera School and dancers from the Paris Opera Company.
Esme had to audition with a video of her class work, from lessons at the Lyme School of Ballet, which was filmed by her big brother at home in Esme’s own little ballet studio.
