OSCAR-winning actress Kate Winslet took time out of her busy filming schedule in Lyme Regis to meet local schoolchildren.
Winslet has been in town for the past two weeks filming scenes for ‘Ammonite’, based on the life of Lyme’s famous fossil hunter Mary Anning, along with co-star Saoirse Ronan.
This week, scenes have been filmed at the town’s historic Cobb harbour and out at sea on traditional sailing ship ‘Irene’.
Children from St Michael’s Primary School visited the filmset this morning and arrived just in time to meet the star.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Children in Jurassic Class had the pleasure of meeting Kate Winslet on their morning walk to the Cobb today. She was passing in her car, rolled down the window then got out to say a few words to the children. The children and staff were very excited!”
