LYME Folk Weekend made its successful return with a bumper Bank Holiday weekend of live music.

Having been called off last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, the festival made its much-anticipated return with headline acts including The Gigspinner Big Band, the Fay Hield Band, Ninebarrow and Friends and Merry Hell performing for enthusiastic audiences at the Marine Theatre.

A programme of free entertainment was also held over four days on Lyme Regis seafront, as well as a popular outdoor ceilidh dance on Theatre Square.

The Lewis family, who visited Lyme Regis for the event and whose daughter Thuraya have an impromptu performance on the fiddle, wrote to LymeOnline to comment: “Further to an amazing weekend in Lyme Regis, the hard work of everyone involved, proved again, a privilege to enjoy!

“A fantastic selection of artists over four days and we watched Merry Hell at the Marine Theatre and listened to the CDs on our journey home to the Cotswolds.

“The sun shone and the music on the seafront could be enjoyed by all, free of charge, which is a rarity.

“The support of all the volunteers involved is appreciated and with the last 18 months of no live music and theatre due to COVID-19, it was great to see returning talented artists.”
