Kayak hire proves a hit during heatwave

RESIDENTS and visitors to Lyme Regis have been cooling off during the recent heatwave by hiring a kayak.

Lyme Kayak Hire, based on the pebble beach near the trampolines, has seen a hike in business this summer and is now expanding its fleet of single and double sit-on kayaks to accommodate a total of 26 people.

The kayak hire business usually opens in March but, due to the unusually cold weather at that time of year, it was unable to open until May this year. The successful summer has more than made up for the late start, and the 17 kayaks will now be available to hire until October, depending on the weather.

As well as hiring to individuals and pairs, the kayaks are available for small group bookings and are a great way for local organisations or businesses to socialise outside of their normal setting.

Staff at Lyme Kayak Hire said it was great to see Lyme Bay being used to its full potential for water sports, as it is such a safe area when used properly.
