Huge crowds turn out for 20th Easter Bonnet Parade

A huge number of children too part in the Easter bonnet competition

A HUGE number of both entrants and spectators celebrated Easter at the annual bonnet parade in Lyme Regis today (Sunday).

Adults and children of all ages showed off their creative Easter bonnets for judging at Lyme Regis Baptist Church, where it was eggs, flowers and chicks galore, as well as several Peter Rabbit theme entries.

The Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Michaela Ellis, presented prizes and also took part in the family category with husband Alan and their baby grandson Reuben, taking part in the event for the first time.

Following the presentation of prizes, the parade was led down Broad Street and along Marine Parade by Councillor Ellis and town crier Alan Vian.

Entrants were followed by Lyme Regis Majorettes who were showing off their new multicoloured uniforms for the first time.

The event was organised by Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival Committee with sponsors Judith Pothecary, the Rock Point Inn, Lyme Convenience Store and Treetops Residential Care Home donating trophies and prizes.
