Fordhams puts an end to ‘cash point crisis’

The free ATM installed in the window of Arthur Fordham & Co this week

A TOWN centre shop has hopefully put an end to Lyme Regis’ so-called ‘cash point crisis’ after installing a free cash machine in its window.

The town was left with just one free ATM, outside Tesco Express, after all three local banks closed down. During busy periods the facility  has regularly run out of money, sparking complaints from residents, visitors and traders.

But popular ironmongers and homeware store Arthur Fordham & Co. now hopes to alleviate the problem, having installed a free cash point in its window at the bottom of Broad Street.

The ATM was installed on Tuesday, ready for the busy half term.

Lyme Regis Town Council has also been in discussions for several months about the possibility of installing two free cash points in the Bell Cliff area, opposite Fordhams, but this had been delayed while they wait for BT to install a telephone line.

Cash withdrawals are also available at the post office, and Lyme Regis Amusement Arcade on Marine Parade also has an ATM which charges a small fee for withdrawals.
