THE Davey Fort – home to Lyme Regis Football Club – has been full of festive cheer in the run up to Christmas.
The club hosted its annual Christmas auction on Saturday, December 7 raising £1,400 for its ongoing development fund, with club member Simon Flux acting as auctioneer for the night.
Top prizes included tickets to watch West Ham, vouchers to local restaurants and hampers with meat provided by Colyton Butchers.
Organiser Francesca Evans thanked all the local traders, club members and supporters who had generously donated prizes and made bids on the night.
Last weekend the club hosted a Christmas lunch for about 50 members and supporters, with roast turkey and Christmas pudding prepared by mother and daughter catering duo, Fiona and Emma Blackmore.
The event raised about £500 which will be split between club funds and the fundraising appeal to re-open a pre-school in Lyme Regis.
Other festive events to be held at the club have included a Christmas meat draw and Christmas bingo.
Lyme Regis Football Club is now looking ahead to the new year, with its first major fundraiser being a Roaring 1920s Ball on Saturday, February 29. The event will include live music and dancing with Daniel Costin on saxophone, plus a sumptuous buffet, speakeasy-theme cocktail bar, luxury raffle and prizes for the best dressed.
Tickets cost £10 for Lyme Regis Football Club members and £15 for non-members. For full details or to book, call Francesca Evans on 07810 221 420.
