ALL existing members of Uplyme Parish Council were re-elected last week, with the only new candidate Bill Trundley missing out on a seat.
Eleven candidates stood for the 10 available seats on the parish council in last Thursday’s local election.
Andrew Turner, a retired Special Constable who volunteered with Devon & Cornwall Police for almost 40 years, topped the polls with 361 votes, followed by Neil Pullinger with 339 and Councillor Turner’s daughter, Becky Turner, with 320.
Others to be re-elected were John Duffin (283), Paulene Frost (271), Chris James (276), Barbara Kidson (295), Brian Mason (252), Dave Ostler (257) and Colin Pratt (273).
New candidate Bill Trundley missed out having polled 219 votes.
The turnout was 42.87% and there were 29 rejected ballot papers.
The parish council will now elect a chairman – with Chris James having previously held the position – at its annual meeting on Wednesday, May 8.
