West Dorset ranked number one in England for vaccination rate

vaccineWEST Dorset has once again been ranked number one in England for its COVID-19 vaccination rate. 

The area has seen a quick roll-out of the COVID vaccinations, with a total of 66,351 residents having received their first dose of a (up to April 11). This equates to 81% of adults.

West Dorset has previously been ranked first and then second in the country for its vaccination rate, before returning to the top spot this week.

Local MP Chris Loder has praised the news as “fantastic”, adding: “It’s tremendous news that we are the number one constituency in England protecting the community from coronavirus with the first vaccine dose. We’re on track for a great summer.

“I’ve been to visit our vaccination centres across my constituency and seen first-hand the hard work that has gone into this remarkable vaccination effort and I have received the vaccine myself at the Digby Hall centre in Sherborne.

“It is thanks to our healthcare staff and volunteers that our local vaccination program is making great progress ready for the summer.”
