WEST Dorset MP Chris Loder was among politicians to welcome volunteers from St John Ambulance to a reception in Westminster last week, to thank them for their incredible work supporting the NHS throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Loder said: “It was genuinely a joy to meet so many people of all ages who give up their spare time to learn first aid, and then use that knowledge to help other people.
“We saw the NHS under great strain over this last 18 months, and it is people like those who volunteer with St John Ambulance who can really make such a difference.”
Among the guests was Carole Lawrence-Parr, chief president of St John Ambulance and West Dorset constituent, who Mr Loder personally thanked for everything the organisation has done.
Others to attend the reception included then vaccines Minister Nadim Zahawi – who was made Secretary of State for Education in this week’s Cabinet reshuffle – and the Secretary of State for Health, Sajid Javid.
