Libraries reopen across Dorset

ALL 23 Dorset Council libraries have reopened doors today (Wednesday) following the end of national lockdown.

All the opening times can be found at and customers are advised to check the times for their local library before setting off.

Although not back to their full pre-COVID opening hours, nine locations will also be open some afternoons.

These are: Dorchester, Ferndown, Weymouth, Gillingham, Blandford, Bridport, Sherborne, Wimborne and Wareham

Customers will be able to browse books and use the library computers (bookable slots). The order and collect service will still be available as an alternative to visiting, and an exciting programme of activities will continue to be offered online.

Councillor Jill Haynes, portfolio holder for Customer and Community Services, said: “As this second lockdown draws to a close, we can’t wait to welcome back customers. We’ll continue to have measures in place so everyone can visit safely while they enjoy their library or information centre.

“I’d like to thank customers for their patience, and our employees for their creativity and passion which continues to make life a little more pleasurable for everyone during these difficult times.”
