COBB Road in Lyme Regis is expected to remain closed until December 6 after a tree fell in high winds on Friday night.
The large lime tree completely blocked the top of the road when it fell during Storm Arwen.
Emergency services helped to clear the debris and police and the fire service monitored the scene throughout the day as the torn-down cables electrified the adjacent railings.
Western Power has now requested that the road closure remain in place until December 6 to allow them to repair the damaged cabling.
Vehicles needing access to the Cobb area are instead being permitted to drive along the Cart Road.
In the meantime, some residents have already called for the large tree to be replaced.
