Coastguards called to injured woman on beach

COASTGUARDS were called out on Saturday afternoon to help a 72-year-old woman who had slipped and injured herself on the beach between Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

Coastguards from Lyme Regis and West Bay attended the scene, where they found the woman to be suffering from a suspected broken arm or shoulder.

The casualty was carefully packaged onto a rescue stretcher taken back to Charmouth, and then on to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance.

Coastguards wish the woman a speedy recovery and would like to thank the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre for the use of their facilities and the refreshments.
